Dainty Doll Liquid Foundation 003 Review

I posted about this foundation last month when I first bought it and quite a few of you asked for a full review… so here we go!
Dainty Doll is the range from Nicola Roberts specifically developed for paler skinned ladies. If you’re like me, you’ll know it can be pretty hard to find a foundation pale enough, that isn’t very yellow or pink toned without spending a fortune on higher end brands. I have to say that there is a lot more choice out there now, so things are getting easier! I still think this range is the winner at the moment though, if you look at my swatches below you’ll see shades 002 and 003 from Dainty Doll, and there’s one even paler that I knew I would never need to try as it’s VERY pale, near enough white.
After trying a sample of both 002 and 003, I went for shade 3, ironically called medium, so odd! (there’s only 4 shades available). Shade 2 was a little too pale and washed me out too much, whereas 3 is just right for now (until summer), and more of a neutral/slightly pink toned shade.

I’ve compared this to my other pale foundations – all which are a light to medium coverage and blend easily into the skin. No7’s Calico is the palest of their new foundation range and is a lovely neutral light foundation (must review!). Benefits’ Hello Flawless is very yellow toned and I find this hard to wear without a little bit of a tan, but mixed with Dainty Doll I’ve been able to get some use out of it recently which I love! I also swatched Dr. Jarts Waterfuse BB cream which is a ‘1 shade suits all’ kind of thing and is a tad too dark and orangey for me at the moment, but I have also tried mixing this with the Dainty Doll with great results. I feel like a scientist each morning mixing up everything on the back of my hand! 😉
Here’s an embarrassing shot of my face with me wearing the foundation. As you can see it’s very light coverage but easily blends with my Real Techniques buffing brush to a flawless finish, it covers redness and any light blemishes and scars I’ve got hanging around, but you’ll probably need concealer for heavy duty areas. The finish of this foundation is definitely a satin finish, almost dewy.. it’s not matte at all so you still look alive and fresh without a caked make-up face. Wear time is good, I never notice any drastic areas that need retouching and it all seems to be there when I take my make-up off at night regardless of a primer being used or not.
In regards to skin types suitable for this foundation… I’d say everyone could make it work with a little bit of effort, dry skins may need to make sure they moisturise well as I noticed it flaked a little around my chin when it was dry a few weeks ago. Oily skin types might need to set oily areas with powder, I have a oily t-zone most days and it doesn’t slip around but y’know, everyone’s different!
All in all a really amazing foundation for super pale skin, definitely worth a look at while it’s on offer!
Have you tried this foundation or anything from the Dainty Doll line?
