Nail Care Basics

I’ve been really into looking after my nails and hands recently with doing more nail posts here on my blog and also for Nouvelle… I think it’s kinda important not to have scraggly nails and dry hands, cause’ that ain’t a pretty picture.
Not to brag (ahem) but I’ve always has pretty nice nails, *proud* they’re strong, pretty nicely shaped and don’t ever chip, break or flake away.
They do however get big ridges if I don’t look after them and I have boney old lady hands that need to bathe in hand cream to look picture friendly, apples and oranges eh?!
First up is the always handy Bourjois Magic Nail Polish Remover which makes removing nail polish so  simple, I’m not actually sure what I did before this was in my life but it sure has saved a lot of cotton pads! Next up I take care of any ridges and make sure my nails are smooth with this super simple Buffer Block from boots for a mere 2. I only need to do this once every now and again but it really makes all the difference.
After that I slap on some hand cream (my favourite is L’Occitane’s mango flower, it smells heavenly) and then do something about my cuticles. Its the one thing I don’t really have a routine for, the thought of a cuticle remover freaks me out… So I’ve been ‘recycling’ an old Botanics facial oil that I don’t get much use out of anymore, putting a few drops of the oil on to a cotton bud to apply to my cuticles, made up of Sweet almond oil and Argan oil, it’s super nourishing and keeps them in good condition so I don’t really need anything else!
I also have a pretty trusty base & top coat duo that work really well for me, I’m sure I’ve mentioned them before but the No7 Stay Perfect Base Coat (I stock up when the vouchers are out!) & the Bourjois 1 Seconde Gloss are really great together. Im not actually sure if the Bourjois is a topcoat, but it’s clear, super glossy and very longwearing, so I’m not complaining!
That’s about all I do to my nails to take care of them, I think it’s pretty low maintenance as I only do this  fully once every two weeks or so! I have been experimenting with nail art lately too and will show you soon! I need to practice more as I have such shaky hands! 😉
